Prior to launching Katana Partners in early 2009, Sue held key executive positions with retail and aviation industry leaders, including SVP, HR, Walmart Stores, US, and CHRO at American Airlines. These positions were held during truly extraordinary times and marked by incredible circumstance—the American Airlines post 9/11 response and recovery and historic restructure of employee pay and benefits to avoid bankruptcy. Her time with Walmart took place in the midst of its unprecedented expansion of human resources capability and capacity.
Ms. Oliver is a lawyer who puts her legal background and leadership skills to work for the purpose of building and driving innovative solutions in the face of complex business issues. Ms. Oliver earned her law degree from the University of Denver's College of Law and her bachelor of arts from George Washington University. She is licensed by the Colorado Bar Association and is a 100% female owned business. She has specialized skills in alternative dispute resolution, mediation and interest based bargaining.
Listed in The New York Times' "Up and Coming List," Ms. Oliver's next endeavor will be to write a book for business leaders and human resource practitioners about how to achieve competitive advantage through a scientific approach to employee engagement.
A member of the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Colorado Bar Association, the National Association of Women Business Owners, The Board Connection, the Dallas Human Resource Association, and the Fort Worth Human Resource Association, she was nominated for Cambridge Publishing's VIP status, a title that is reserved for select individuals demonstrating professional excellence. Earlier in her career, the YWCA of New York, NY named her a 1999 Distinguished Business Woman of the Year.
