Human resources professional Margaret E. Oakes celebrates over two decades with Lockheed Martin Corporation
LAS VEGAS, NV, July 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret E. Oakes, Multi-Functional Human Resources Representative for Lockheed Martin Corporation, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Employee Relations. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
A global security company, Lockheed Martin Corporation is most widely known for contributions to the design, development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems. Responsible for the firm's glossy exterior and superior interior corporate relations are a group of professionals that play key roles in Lockheed's continued success. One of these individuals is Margaret E. Oakes, Multi-Functional Human Resources Representative. She doesn't conduct aeronautical research or install electronic systems on Navy ships, but she does take care of the people who do. Said Oakes during a recent interview with Cambridge Who's Who, "I think of myself as the go-to person for all employees to answer any of their questions or deal with any personnel issues." Best noted for her expertise in employee investigations and resolutions, Oakes handles all staffing services for Lockheed Martin. Now celebrating her 24th anniversary with the company, she utilizes her industry know-how to compile and uphold policies and procedures as they relate to human resources as well as work on proposals.
Oakes stresses that human resources should not be an intimidating aspect of business. Rather, it should be embraced as a friendly and respected field. At least, that is the way HR works at Lockheed Martin. Her goal has always been to create an environment where employees can feel respected, be heard and have an open forum where they can resolve their issues. Oakes is defined by her genuine care for people. Her uncanny ability to show compassion and empathy, coupled with her knack for finding creative solutions to difficult problems, makes her an invaluable professional resource for Lockheed Martin.
Oakes holds a bachelor of business administration from the University of Phoenix, earned in 2008. She became a certified professional in human resources through the Society for Human Resource Management and holds certification in advanced and basic human resources from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her professional affiliations include the Society for Human Resource Management.
