ALBERTA, CANADA, July 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Mike Williams, Chief Administrative Officer of TransAlta, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in human resources.

With 30 years of professional experience, Mike Williams is best noted for his expertise in human resources management. He recently marked his eighth year with energy firm TransAlta. In the position of chief administrative officer, he is responsible for managing the HR, information technology, communications and facilities departments, overseeing support functions, implementing policies and procedures, and planning and developing strategies. Prior to joining TransAlta, Mr. Williams lent his talents to Alcatel-Lucent as vice president of HR, to Cisco Systems Inc. as senior HR director, to Newbridge Networks as executive vice president of HR, to National Semiconductor Corporation, and to BT Group plc as training manager. He attributes the success and longevity that he has enjoyed in the human resources field to his dedication and people management skills.

Educated in the United Kingdom, Mr. Williams earned his master of science in human resource management in 1982 from Aston University and his bachelor of arts in English in 1981 from Cardiff University. He is affiliated with the Institute of Human Resource Management and serves as chairman of Hull Child and Family Services. He plans to venture into consulting within the next five years.

TransAlta Corporation engages in the production and sale of electric energy in Canada, the United States and Australia. The company generates electricity through its portfolio of facilities fueled by coal, gas, hydro, wind, and geothermal resources.
