Jeannine Ferrari Shares her Business Secrets with Cambridge Who's Who
A veritable whirlwind, Jeannine Ferrari helms her own consulting firm, among other business ventures
CARLSBAD, CA, August 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Human resources is an industry that often gets a bad rap. Through their work, dedicated practitioners like Jeannine Ferrari strive to reemphasize what HR is really about - people, and what matters to them. "Human resources involve everything to do with the people in the company," she told Cambridge Who's Who in a recent interview. "It's dealing daily with people - their complaints, their issues, and relaying that back to management so that things can be corrected within the company."
Ms. Ferrari puts her ideas to practice as the head of her own business consulting firm, aptly named Jeannine Ferrari Consulting. She is committed to providing leading-edge human resource infrastructure support and exemplary customer service to facilitate the improved performance of an organization. She has lent her expertise to both large and small companies over the course of the last 20 years, but finds that she has been working more and more with smaller enterprises that have had to downsize staff. Given the current economic climate, she relishes the opportunity to help these businesses stay afloat by assisting them with building simple infrastructures and continuing operations despite the absence of a full-time HR manager. "The thing that I'd like people to know about me is that there isn't any company that is too small [for me to] work with," Ms. Ferrari said. "I'm always willing to listen to the problems and provide suggestions, whether or not the company feels [these] will work for them [or the company has] the resources to pay me. I do a lot of pro bono work."
Prior to devoting her time to her firm, Ms. Ferrari functioned as the manager of human resources and administration for Quartus Engineering Incorporated, where she ensured compliance with state and federal laws. In this capacity, she kept management abreast of new trends and developments, such as how to deal with Generation Y and Millennials. Quartus Engineering Incorporated specializes in the design and analysis of aerospace and mechanical systems using computer-aided technologies. Ms. Ferrari, who spent five years with the company, utilized her human resource prowess to recruit the best engineers. She reviewed annual culture survey results and consulted with management on potential suggestions to enhance and improve the culture at Quartus Engineering. Ms. Ferrari was known especially for her devotion to staff development and the rapport that she was able to build with employees. She explained, "I listen to the employees. They would come in - I sometimes feel like I am their psychiatrist! - and I listen to all of their concerns and how they think things should be."
Ms. Ferrari's keen problem-solving skills and ability to get the job done have made her a successful businesswoman in her own right. An independent Nu Skin representative and an independent travel agent, she utilizes progressive human resource practices to create best-practice programs. Ms. Ferrari continuously updates her knowledge relevant to workers' compensation, the Americans with Disabilities Act, equal employment opportunity, the Family Medical Leave Act, Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance, and many other issues.
Initially set on a career as a nurse, Ms. Ferrari auspiciously attained a position at Structural Dynamics, which later offered to finance her education. Through the firm, she earned two master's degrees - an MS in organizational dynamics and another in business administration, both from the University of California. In possession of a Professional Human Resource (PHR) certificate, she maintains affiliation with the North County Personnel Association and the San Diego chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.
Though grateful for having been presented with invaluable opportunities for advancement, Ms. Ferrari maintains that it was diligent application, more than anything, that has enabled her to get to where she is today. "It's hard to get into any company without a degree," she conceded. "The degrees have helped [get] me in, but I think it's been my personality and the way that I approach things that have helped me accomplish what I've accomplished in my life."
And she's ready to take on more. A veritable whirlwind, Ms. Ferrari looks forward to developing her own firm, as well as her Nu Skin and travel businesses. "Whether it [is] human resources or business administration, I know that I have a [good] head on my shoulders," she said. "I personally believe that there is nothing that I can't do."
